The Big Picture

My name is Elijah Kihlstadius. I am 18 years old and I am a student at Hennepin Technical College and I am currently located in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

Taking pictures has been aninterest of mine for quite some time, but it wasnt until I got my first DSLR, a Canon 20D, in early August of 2007 that got my start into the real world of photography.

I am a disciple of my almighty Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have laid my life before Him and dedicated my life to following Him and His ways. I will strive to use every blessing, every talent, every breath that I have, in serving Him and bringing glory to His name (not mine).

My Philosophy

I don't consider myself to be an abstract artist. Quite the opposite is true actually. I believe in capturing the moment exactly how God made it. Not by warping the idea of an image through abstract thinking. I only want my images to show Gods handiwork.

I believe that the art of photography (as well as all other arts) has a power. A power all its own, a power so great it can impact even the hardest of persons. But even more so, I believe photography is a way to communicate. With the way a picture can touch someone, no matter what language they speak, what they believe in, or even how young or old they may be.

Photography is God's gift, a gift that can (and should) be used to show His beauty and His design in this world. It is for that same reason I want to become a great photographer, so I can help the world see the big picture. Matthew 5:16 says: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

That... That is why I want to make great photos. So I can say "God made that, look how amazing He is". And so when someone tells me how great I am, I can say "I have no talent except what He has given me". I want to bring glory and honor to His name through my work!

My work

I have done most of my event work as a volunteer at a few churches, and as a public affairs person for the Fargo Public School system. I can handle long hard work sessions and I have even covered many weekend long events.
